Rocking R Sausage Pizza

Pizza is a ranch go to!  Make it for dinner, pack it on the saddle the next day, it's always a favorite around here.  This is my favorite pizza dough recipe, because it is so easy, only takes a few hours to rise, and it always works!

Ingredients:

1 package active dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 1/4 cup warm water

3 1/3 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp kosher salt

3 tsp extra virgin olive oil

pizza sauce

mozarella

parmesan cheese

Rocking R Sausage

Any toppings your heart desires!

 

Directions for Dough:

  • Mix together warm water, yeast, and sugar until dissolved.  Let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.  
  • You can use a food processor or mixer.  In the work bowl, add flour, salt, and 2 tsp of olive oil.  Mix on slow until incorporated.  While the machine is running, slowly pour in the liquid yeast mixture until absorbed.  
  • Increase speed of mixer to medium and knead dough until a ball forms.  
  • Coat bowl with olive oil, place dough ball in center, and cover with a towel or plastic wrap.  Let rise in warm spot until double in size.  

Make the Pizza: 

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. 
  • Punch down dough ball and place on floured surface.  Roll out until rectangle in shape.
  • Oil rectangle baking sheet with olive oil.  Place dough in center, with hands spread to edges of baking sheet.  Work slowly, and fix any holes.    
  • Top with marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and Rocking R Sausage.  
  • Place in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, until cheese and crust are a golden brown.  (*Each oven varies, keep an eye on pizza to see if more or less time is needed.)
  • Enjoy with a crisp garden salad!

*Depending on the time of year, we change up our pizza style.  Sometimes we roll the dough in circles and cook on pizza stones in the oven, we also love to have grilled pizza in the summer.  Have fun with it!
